Video Transcript

The difference between an employee and independent contractor is an employee is paid via W2 and an independent contractor is paid via 1099. An employee, the employer, directs and controls the work that the employee performs. Whereas with an independent contractor, the independent contractor is not on a set work schedule, they typically have their own business, the work for other individuals, and they are not specifically directed by an employer. For an example, an attorney is an independent contractor.
