Part-time, Unpaid Internship
 
Small but busy law firm is interested in hiring a part-time legal intern to join the team. TNG Legal seeks a college or a law student who is interested in an internship for credit. The candidate will be working with some or all of the following; family, small business, and contract law and will be assisting with cases, reviewing and preparing correspondence, typing and modifying documents, preparing case folders, preparing trial binders, client intake, maintaining files, marketing, social media, blogs, client and prospect follow up, various administrative tasks, research, other internal projects as assigned. Additional administrative responsibilities will include; answering phones, contact with clients, courts, opposing counsel(s) and running small office errands including filing court documents. Experience in small business, government contracts, personal injury and family law is a plus! Bilingual in Spanish is a plus!

The ideal candidate is someone who is energetic, enthusiastic, has excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, motivated, able to manage multiple priorities and understands the importance of providing excellent service to clients. This is a great opportunity for candidates interested in becoming paralegals or lawyers in their future careers. Interested candidates will have the opportunity to observe and attend trials.

Part-Time Bilingual Paralegal (Spanish)

Solo attorney with a primarily small business and family law practice, in Fredericksburg, Virginia, seeking a part-time paralegal. Candidate should have 1-2 years’ experience as a paralegal or 3-5 years as a legal assistant, be a self starter, exhibit initiative, highly motivated, integrity, have a go-getter attitude and a desire to provide excellent service to clients.Practice Areas Include:

  • Contracts
  • Business Transactions;
  • General Litigation;
  • Landlord / Tenant;
  • Family Law Matters;
  • Creditor Matters/ Bankruptcy
  • Personal Injury
  • Wills and Estates
  • Immigration

Hours: To start Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, 9am-3pm *subject to change (16 hours per week) Hours may increase.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: Individual will perform various administrative functions and clerical support including answering phones, screening calls, legal research and legal writing, drafting legal documents, pleadings, reviewing and editing legal and other documents, welcoming, greeting and interacting with clients, guests, attorneys, court staff and other third parties. Duties will also include intake, meeting with clients, responding to general inquiries, returning phone calls, follow up, scheduling appointments, data entry, case and file management, client follow up, filing documents in court; monitoring evidence-gathering and deadlines; and other duties as assigned.

Required

  • 1-2 plus years of paralegal preferably in a small law firm environment or 3-5 years as a legal assistant (no exceptions)
  • Must be able to type and be proficient with a computer
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to multi-task and use independent judgment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (including excellent spelling, grammar, punctuation and proofreading)
  • Communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and staff
  • Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow complex instructions and take on new tasks, in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred: Prior small firm and/or law office experience desired. Must have computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, exceptional legal writing, legal research and typing skills. Experience in a business, family, collections, and/or bankruptcy law firm strongly desired.Some travel required. Must have reliable transportation.
